17th November, 1948.
Dear Dawson,
The Bishop of Hong Kong wrote to Lady Cripps on
October 19th about financial aid to Hong Kong University,
and the Chancellor asked for a report on the position.
Our people of course consulted the Hong Kong department
of the Colonial Office on it and on the lines on which
a reply might be returned to the Bishop. Lady Cripps
has now written to him along the lines of our draft, a
copy of which is enclosed, as is also a copy of the
Bishop's letter. As you will see, the Bishop may ask
for an interview with your Secretary of State.
Yours sincerely,
C.
